PAGE Text Editor (1973-78)

Timeframe: 1973-1978 Technology: RSTS/E Basic Plus

Summary:

In 1973 there were no WYSIWYG editors. Everything was done with line editors. You entered a few lines and then printed them back out to see what you had messed up. Bob Lane and I were working together at Chrysler and came up with the idea for a full screen editor. Bob did most of the original work and I took over when he left the project, but PAGE (his name for it) was the first visual editor either of us had ever seen.
